Clinical Associate Professor Kurt Gebauer
MBBS, FACD, FACP, OAMKurt has been a Director of Fremantle Dermatology since joining the clinic in 1992. He completed a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Western Australia in 1985, and was awarded a Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatology in 1992. He undertook post-graduate training in the United Kingdom including research in the field of Industrial Dermatitis. For his academic interests, he was awarded a Clinical Associate Professorship from the University of Western Australia in 2008.
Kurt is an International Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a Fellow of the International Dermatology Society. He has numerous research interests, particularly in the evaluation and development of innovative pharmaceutical agents used in the treatment of dermatological conditions. He has contributed to over 40 clinical trials, authored over 40 journal articles and is an invited International Guest Speaker at various meetings and conventions.
He currently sits on a number of Dermatology Advisory Boards and has participated in numerous International Dermatology master classes. He has co-chaired the “All About Acne” educational group for the past decade.
Kurt was formerly Head of the Department of Dermatology at Fremantle Hospital from 1996 to 2015. Kurt is a long term supporter of the Lions Cancer Screening Program and was formerly providing rural services to the Albany region.
Kurt’s sporting interests include water polo and hockey. He competed in the World Masters Water Polo Championships in August 2017 and is a regular member of the State Veterans Hockey Team in his age group.
Kurt was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2022 for his services to medicine in the field of dermatology.
